I agree. If star high school players went srtaight to the Nba, schools like Duke and North carolina , notre dame will lose millions of dollars from Tv deals and merchandise sales.Everybody has a carolina blue shirt.you think if jordan. stakchouse, rasheed and a list of players didn't attend this school, it would still be so famous? Imagine if kwame Brown went to college and becmae a bust in college. he would have a degree right now working a 9-5 makeing 45,000 a year before taxes !! If shaun livingston went to college and kept getting hurt like he has in the nba he would never had made it to the nba and he might have become one of those drop-outs that people talk about how good he WAS...

Frankly, I'd like to see the NBA stick with their age/education limit, instead of allowing kids to sign out of HS. For that matter, I'd like to see ALL sports, whether team or individual sports, stick with an age/education limit.
There is much to be said, in terms of personal maturity and the responsibility, in that 3 or 4 year age difference between HS and college athletes. There is a lot of growing up done on those few years, a lot of learning to take responsibility for yourself and your actions.
For that matter, I'd also like to see all sports adopt a rule that means that they much make certain that anyone they draft or anyone they sign is at least functionally literate in their native tongue. That little detail makes a huge difference to people in the long run. Alternatively, if an athlete is not at least functionally literate in their native tongue, they can be signed but must spend at least the first learning to read and write, etc., before they can be allowed to play.
I have more. too, but my more applies specifically to baseball. And although I have it neatly typed, it's on my hard drive, and my computer currently is being repaired. So, to the library every day. Wait, isn't that what those athletes should be doing, too?

Kwame Brown. Darius Miles. These guys are freakin' athletes, but they haven't learned the game. Personally I like when they could chose when they wanted to go to the NBA. It made for players ala Kwame Brown & Daris Miles, but also for some good HS players like Amare Stoudamire, Kobe Bryant, and Kevin Garnett.
If anything, this rule is to benefit teams from making mistakes like Michael Jordon & the Wizards did with Brown. They ended up getting Caron Butler for him, but they could have grabbed some other talent.
And don't get me wrong- I like Kwame Brown. I think he'd fit in with my Suns style of play, but he was a bust for a 1st round 1 pick.
I think they wanted to be careful of what I just mentioned above. Draft busts.

Yes and No. For every Kobe, Shawn Kemp, Lebron, there is a Leon Smith, or Darius Miles. But the odds are the same for kids coming out of college.
Let the players go early, try to make their money, and give the scholarships to kids who want them.

Personally, I believe the age limit should be raised to 26. More mature athletes that way.
Better yet, let's GET RID of the NBA. Basketball SUCKS!!

I agree with you. That's the reason they are doing it. They just want to make more money.
