Unless its shifted or has become lodged in such a way that the removal becomes complicated (about 5% of the time), it should only take a few seconds and should only feel like a pinch (less than or perhaps similar to a pap smear).

It's suggested to take an ibuproferen before insertion and before having it removed just in case of discomfort.

I don't beleive so. My doctor told me that it call fall out
with out me being aware of it, so I would assume that it
would not hurt to remove it.
