DOH!!!!!!!!
Is Homer Simpson a "roll" model for today's parents?
Without a doubt.
You said "roll." And a what a model roll: he is a doughy bit of carbon-based yeast that does virtually nothing. So, from that r-o-l-l spelling, yep, he's the perfect ROLL model.
As a ROLE model, though, I hope most would agree that he is NOT a role model for today's parents. In the off chance that you are using the wrong word as well as the wrong spelling, and you mean, instead, to ask if he is a profile, commentary, metaphor or an amalgamation of today's parents, I'd say that I can't be certain.
He may be representative of what the show's creators would act like if they were dads with children (which they may be) but I truly and deeply hope that young fathers today do not watch The Simpsons and yearn to model themselves after old Homer.

definately - he works hard to provide for his family and he loves them a heck of a lot.
he might not get everything right, but what he does is what he thinks is best for his family.
his children know that no matter what he loves them and is there for them. they do not face abuse or have to witness abuse.
how many children are being brought up in a house that good? the answer - not as many as there should be.
and thats the reason i think homer simpson is a good role model for parents today!

Yes, I would say he has taught our kids how to stay safe, not get caught by the cops, and how to be sneaky!
