So I posted a question earlier about my furnace, and it having to do with my airconditioning not cooling.

My follow up question is, I have my airconditon on off ( since its not cooling ) and I turned off my furnace and gas line ( just incase ). Will the water stop leaking? Its still dripping. The A/C guy wont be here till wednesday, the earliest they can come to check out my AC unit. The guy who is going to check on my Furnace hasnt called me back. So yea, my question is will the water stop dripping eventually?

Yes the others are right. The evaporator coil is a solid block of ice. Turn the a/c off and leave the fan switch in the on position. This will help the ice melt and once it has melted it will help the moisture that has dripped into your ductwork to evaporate. The last thing you want is a mold problem in your ducts. This can be very had to repair. DO NOT turn your heating on!!!!! This can cause the heat exchanger to overheat and trip limit switchs.

The cause may be a low refrigerant charge, a metering device thats not working properly, a dirty filter, low airflow across the coil: can include problems with the fan motor or IFC (integrated fan control) as well as thermostats and control wiring problems. Most often this happens because a homeowner forgot to change their filter and it is now a carpet. The second most comon cause is low refrigerant.

Sounds like your drain pan is not draining properly or you have excess water/ice coming off your coil. The drain pan is under your coil. If the drain line coming out is clogged with dirt or algae, the line with clog and back up the water, causing it to over flow. Most drain pans have an automatic switch located on it that when the water gets too high, it will cut the unit off until the water has been drained.

I suggest seeing if you can empty your drain pan (if you feel comfortable) or put towels down.

It sounds like your system is definitely freezing up. The water you are seeing is because the ice is thawing out. Eventually all the ice will melt and stop leaking. Check the drain to make sure that water is flowing through it and it is not clogged, but the ice will eventually melt.
