Our cards are not issued with chips, for credit cards you are required to sign, for debit cards some places require just a pin, while others require a pin & your signature.

one of the wonderful things about SA is that we are a multicultural country - there are many beautiful places to visit. hope you enjoy your stay.

If you use a card with a chip in you don't have to sign but if your card doesn't have a chip you have to sign for whatever you buy. I'm South-African and we went on holiday there in December and got robbed in a restaurant. So wherever you are always be careful.

no chip and pin, will still work the same though, give card, will ask you to input pin into the machine but you will be asked to sign the slip afterwards, only real difference.

Your wallet probably WILL NOT get stolen, you should be careful with your stuff though. Try not to flash huge wads of money around, and try be aware of the people around you. (all people - white/black & male/female)

When using you credit card try follow the waiter/ess to the credit card machine and watch them swipe it though. There have been incidents of cards being copied at resturants (then they spend all your money)
At shops you will use your credit card at the till so you can see whats going on.
