The spending on India's defence budget, exorbitant as it is, must be justified in the context of the persistent threats from our neighbours, terrorists, naxalites and the like. The question that every Indian should ask is, why aren't these funds being spent properly and being pocketed by middle men, politicians and the bureaucrats. The same should be asked of the allocations for all the social welfare programmes encompassing education, poverty, family initiatives and health.
Apart from hiking the budget allocations for each of these sectors the government must look towards spending all these funds in a planned manner. Increased spending when viewed in the context of corruption only means more money lost for all the wrong reasons.

Agreed. Your views on the present state of the country are contemporary and just. Again the buck stops at the table of the dumb politicians who will never understand the need to be educated, qualified, sensible, publicly aware to introduce such deemed changes in the Constitution by amending the Representation of Peoples Act also dealing with qualifications of the candidates.

that's real that between the middle reasons for all times of any government is to "preserve the human beings". and actual $10 billion is a tiny quantity for clean fighter planes. Australia's software working example is approximately $20 billion. yet even that would not fill one Russian, American or chinese language plane provider with planes!!! So how futile is it? would not or no longer that's super if an more advantageous share of that funds ought to be spent for diplomatic and help purposes. If those threats have been bumped off - the anger and suspicions between countries, then extra money could be obtainable. think of what India's 10 billion and Australia's 20 billion ought to do for the human beings of, say, Ethiopa if it grow to be positioned into necessary centers like water, transport and preparation. Australia grow to be privileged sufficient to be waiting to assist our neighbours after the 'Boxing Day Tsunami'. i think of that somewhat small quantity of expenditure in all probability did extra for our protection than any billions spent on palms. It despatched a message that 'whilst situations are difficult, we are your pal' and that i think of it won us a number of of know or maybe some ask your self from some. think of how stable it may be if we did no longer watch for Tsunamis and only helped to that form of degree each and all the time! Now think of if that grow to be usa's concentration. No strings linked - only help! Am I dreaming?

Good heavens you have just written off the president of the
United States and completely emptied both houses of parliament in Australia and in all its states. You have also written off the complete government of Russia and the Australian
prime minister has just rushed back to high school.
The cost of politicians salaries would be slashed overnight.
Maintaining discipline in the Australian parliament would be

The Defense Budget should be justified, taking into consideration of India's size, population, borders, trade routes, relations with neibouring countries, internal problems etc. Only if our country's borders are secured and stability is achieved we can concentrate to work towards prosperity. Moon landing priorty cannot be justified.

The framers of constitution had a false idea that India will be producing political leaders. They could have never imagined of a government dancing to the tune of a foreign widow.

but defence is expensive... and a space programme is essential
why?
no defence = we become India Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China... hope u know what that means
no space programme = China shoots down our satellites too!

A good idea- but would anyone be left who would be qualified to run for office, or who would wish to put forth the effort required to run?
