I've tried and there is no way to get her to stop, her boyfriend smokes too. I can't afford to move out and I had to chase my dog today when her leash broke. I thought I was dying. I couldn't breathe for almost two minutes, my chest and heart hurt and I felt like throwing up. I couldn't stop coughing. I think it's because of second hand smoke. How can I avoid it? Thanks!

More than likely it was because you are not use to running any distance. Unless you are in cross country training, or a regular jogger or highly athletic, you would have experienced the same effects.

If your Mom will not quit there is really nothing you can do, other than try to stay out of the way when she does smoke.

since they cant respect you enough not to smoke in front of you just dont be around them when they are smoking go to your room or outside. keep trying to tell them how you feel, how its unfair for you to have to breath in that stuff when you dont even do it. I make my boyfriend smoke outside b/c i cant stand ciggarette smoke!! but if you cant do all that i guess just keep trying to save your money to move out
