How do you explain CFC's and the hole in the Ozone layer that is now closing? Or if you do accept that in this case something as simple as banning aerosol could have such a huge effect.. why can't we be adding to the speed of Global Warming?

so far you all want to avoid the CFC comment which is the main part of this question.

we are CFC free (for the most part) these days.. have been for what.. 50 years now.. and the hole is closing over Antartica.. it is predicted to close for good in 20-30 more years (Science Daily... it would take me a minute to go back and find that story.. but it's there)

Most deniers don't even know what CFC's are.

I hope they live in coastal areas.

Global warming is a joke.

1) 6,000 years ago, the earth was hotter than it is today. 6,000 years is less than a second when compared with the age of the earth.

2) Temperatures dropped in the 1950's and 1990's when CO2 levels were increasing.

3) 140,000 years ago the earth had record CO2 levels and there were no gasoline powered cars.

4) 20,000 years ago, Canada was one big ice cube and half of the U.S. was covered with Ice. The grand canyon was formed by melting ice ages over 20 million years.

5) The temperature of the Earth has only increased by 0.65 of a degree in the last 110 years. There were faster increases in temperatures around 10,000 years ago and there were no gasoline powered cars during that time

7) NASA has said that great temperature changes are normal. Just 10,000 years ago, the earth warmed up extremely in less than 20 years. There were not many people around at that time.
NASA:
"Rapid changes between ice ages and warm periods (called interglacials) are recorded in the Greenland ice sheet. Occurring over ONE OR TWO DECADES, the warming of the Earth at the end of the last ice age "
http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Study/Paleoclimatology_Evidence/Images/gisp2_temperature.gif

8) NASA scientific data has shown most of the changes of temperature are due to changes in the Sun. Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all have global warming right now

9) Also, strong hurricanes are normal. Hundreds of years ago, they used to sink ships off of the coast of Florida.

10) THIS GLACIER DIDN'T EXIST 7,000 YEARS ago. And that was after the Ice Age.
"A few thousand years ago, there were no glaciers here at all"..."Back then we would have been standing in the middle of a forest"

There is no proof that CFC's caused the hole in the ozone layer. That hole has only been monitored since the late 1970's. That hole may have existed 2000 years ago. The real reason why the hole enlarges and contracts has to do with plasma physics and the magnetic fields around the earth.

"The animals that live in Antarctica have been found to have a high UV radiation tolerance, lending evidence to the theory that ozone levels have always been low above Antarctica. " http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApPjALGScFvEd811w0dZ2t4jzKIX?qid=20070210205929AAX8jox

Nobody says man kind can't have an effect. People are saying there's no proof saying that man does have an effect. That's two separate things. Aerosol cans give off so little CFCs it can't be proven to have an effect. Natural causes could have just as much, if not more of an effect.

I agree with you on the CFCs and it's good they were banned. That was a specific identifiable and addressable cause of a problem.

As for Global Warming (the bigger picture) mankind is NOT the only factor in global warming or cooling.

Mars is getting warmer too. Could it be the Sun has anything to do with it?

It is man's arrogance to believe he can affect the weather on a global scale. Man is insignificant in his petty scratching on the planet's surface.

There is ample evidence that shows the earth has had these kinds of cycles in the past. There is evidence that shows that the CO2 in the atmosphere is actually lower now than it has been in the past, yet this is the core of the debate over global warming. It's a fad and a scam and in time, will run the course just like the other faddish view perpetuated by the media.

The real amazing part is the myopic views of many (like Al Gore) that choose to ignore the evidence.

To CFC or not???

Here's a word most are not familiar with....Supernova

Our sun is in the process of its supernova....Yep...it's going to be gone some day (not in our lifetime though)...

As it continues its current activity....its temperatures increase and decrease. Hence....our warming and cooling trends.

This planet is a part of something MUCH bigger than the self-proclaimed, self-absorbed human race.

Neo-cons don't think. They just parrot what the here from Limbaugh.

It is obvious with the invention of the nuclear bomb that man has reached the point that he does affect his natural habitat in a big way. I don't know why all of the denial(s) even if our impact is only 10%. The recommendations are still a great thing to shoot for. Renewable energy.

Of course we have damaged it. But so do volcano's,huge fires and lots of human based CO2.Global warming is a solor event not atmospheric The earth is good at keeping itself clean

There is logic to and reputable scientists on both sides of the issue. We are also in a natural climatic change as of right now, be it apparently aggravated by mankind.

CFCs are accepted by virtually everyone to be dangerous.

You can still buy aerosal cans. Perhaps the "hole" in the ozone layer was a political hoax as well. Ozone is what makes the sky blue. Did your sky above the clouds ever change colors?

actually the ozone hole is growing even with the reduction of CFCs... do a google search and you will be amazed.
