I think some aspects would be close, esp back in the day in England, but nowadays I don't see that. My friends that live in England tell me that at most football games there is maybe some anger to a rival club but it never goes wild enough.

the only portrait that truly shows what is going on is the one you paint for yourself . if you want to believe that the movie you watched is true then its true . just know that reality , like perceptions change , sometimes in a blink of an eye , and that its okay to believe a different story the next day , if you so desire .

Isolated incidents is a good phrase. Most football matches pass without bother but every now and again it gets a bit hairy. Very much less so now than it used to be.

honestly? i can say yes it does happen. i live quite near a club called airdrie united and they are big on the fights, as are motherwell and a few other teams in scotland. i also know that there are certain clubs in england that back them up when they are fighting particular rivals and the supporters in scotland return the favour.

Unfortuately it does happen, despite what people seem to think it's not just 'back in the day' that it happened. And it can be just a violent as in the film.
