Men: Obviously its Rafa. I've been following tennis and playing in the junior levels for like 10-11 years and I've seen every single match ever played during the Grand-Slams. And believe me, I've never seen anyone who plays so well on clay like Nadal. His game is tailor-made for it. The clay is very slow so he can run down a lotta balls and make the opponent err. He doesn't have that good a serve, but on clay you don't really need a 130 mph serve. I was a little worried with his form before Indian Wells but after seeing the Roddick match, all my faith in him is restored again. He's playing great and shaping up well for the clay-court season. He also has that greed in his eyes that has been missing since the Wimbledon final. He's back, my friend.
Federer may challenge him but I would say Nadal on clay is pretty much unbeatable. Remember, during French Open 06, Rafa wasn't playing all that good but still he managed to win all his matches with relative ease including the final agnst Fed. C'mon we're talking about the guy who still hasn't played a five-set match in the French Open!!!
Women: I haven't seen Henin play recently, but i would say her, based on past form. Anyways, Serena could challenge her but I wouldn't like to count out Kuznetsova or Mauresmo either. But I think Hantuchova is gonna be the suprise this season. She played brilliantly in Indian Wells.

Actually on the women's side it would be Serena for me...and Venus too...if they choose to be. They played in the finals before with Serena winning...
Nadal
Robredo
Verdasco
Gaudio
Ferrero
Nalbanian
and maybe somewhere after the those can be Federer. This is not his favorite surface and he's had a pretty good run in the last two years....semis in 2005 and finals in 2006...but he's not getting any younger and the younger ones are just coming into their own especially with Nadal in play.

On the men's side, Spanish and Latin American born players are always dominant in clay court. Remember Gustavo Kuerten?
Nadal is definitely the top choice for me. The Argentinians are pretty close behind.

Federer in men's for sure. But regarding women, Serena, cannot be... though she has won french before, Justine defeated her with ease on clay. I would say the best contender is Hingis, if she plays to her very best, Clijsters, if she doesnt lose her nerve. All this to happen, Justine would need to have a bad day on clay, she has been extremely smooth there.
