It should be AT LEAST weekly if not more. She should be getting other therapies also if she needs it like ST, PT, Augmentative, etc.

Just wondering...has she ever been tested for Rett Syndrome? Usually boys have autism and when girls are thought to have autism RS should be ruled out. Usually RS is highly misdiagnosed as autism or CP. There is a blood test for it but you usually have to ask for it. www.rettsyndrome.org

Yes, it should be weekly. Do you have an IEP? Surely you must with your daughter being autistic (my son has autism and gets OT, PT, and speech all twice weekly for 30 minutes each). Most importantly you should have a copy of your parent's rights as well as a Wright's Law Book. First thing you should do is get a copy of your parent's rights and update yourself on what is due your child through the public school system. If you need help you can use an advocate. The schools know YOUR rights but if you don't they are not obligated to tell you. You are the most important advocate for your child so do not be afraid to press this issue and hard -contact the special education director of your daughters school and be PERSISTENT. Hope this helps.

is it in her plan of care that she receive services once a week and can it be done in a consulting format?/ is an assistant seeing her?/ the schools are to provide services but have have found ways to get around it. proving your case will be difficult as more kids out there need services also and they are ask to cut back more and more you might want to see what your insurance allows for private therapy? If not ask for a home program and school program to follow.
