I am a 20 year Navy Sailor. I have been to the Gulf, and a lot of other places. My Dad was in the Korean War and got shot at. I will fight to preserve the freedom of this country. My children know what I just said.

I am for protecting the USA and promote American ideals. I recently stopped at a McDonald's on a long drive, not to eat but to tell the owner his flag had come undone at the truck on top of his building.

However, the war we are in now is greedy, unnecessary and is creating more enemies than friends. Furthermore we have been lied to, from the WMD lie that started the attacks to the truth about 9/11. The 90-minute video "Loose Change" is a must watch.

I want to believe in my country, but its current leadership has sent innocent lives to their death for oil greed and allowed well-kept business secrets to be outsourced for an immediate one-time profit that now puts us behind the eight ball to Japan, China and India in gross manufacturing.

The current regime is also attempting to start a second Black Tuesday by inflating the dollar through spending without solving the national debt. Click the second link to find out what happens when the dollar gets thrown away and you're left holding meaningless money with no value. The dollar is fast becoming like its lira and franc predecessors in Italy and France, a unit with no backbone. See link #2. The rich hold diversified international assets and will not be affected.

To provide diversion from greedy intentions, the powers in charge of our country have slowly set up Osama bin laden to be the world version of Who Shot J.R., and we are suckered into following this. See Link #3. Link #4 describes how the USA is totally dependent on Saudi Arabia as an ally because of its petroleum reserves.

In short, we can't stop this second VietNam until someone with money and power cares about America. I'm just a Yahoo! Answers guy. Who's got enough clout to stop the corruption this time? Is it too late?

I disapprove of any war. Whether it is justified or not is a subject for debate. Every day I feel for those families that find out there son or daughter lost their life. I have family fighting there and I can see the pain and fear in the parents when they have not been able to talk to their soldier in Baghdad. I have set up a collection box to send to the troops and you would not believe how many people just ignore it or say the troops are taken care of enough. Those soldiers are laying their lives and the future of their families on the line. Prayers would help but also some little memories from home won't hurt either. Like snacks, DVDs, or just a card.

The war in Afganistan was much needed and where we should have focused our Military energies after 9/11. The UN and world opinion was on our side and supported our efforts in Afganistan. However, the war in Iraq is a shame and should never have happened. The war in Iraq has completely damaged the US's reputation and standing with the UN and the World community. Should we continue down the path of pre-emptive invasions and knee-jerk reactions by our leaders, you can count on World War III happening and witness the beginning of the end for the US as a world power.

It remindes me of these Quotes by Johnson.

" They call upon us to supply American boys to do the job that Asian boys should do." " We Americans know - although others appear to forget - the risk of spreading conflict. We still seek no wider war. " " We did not choose to be the guardians of the gate, but there is no one else. " " Our numbers have increased in Vietnam because the aggression of others has increased in Vietnam. There is not, and there will not be, a mindless escalation. "
" I'm tired. I'm tired of feeling rejected by the American people. I'm tired of waking up in the middle of the night worrying about the war. " " I hear the headlines on the radio, see them on TV and read them in the paper. When I hear from the men out there, I sometimes don't believe they are talking about the same situation" " For this is what America is all about. It is the uncrossed desert and the unclimbed ridge. It is the star that is not reached and the harvest that is sleeping in the unplowed ground. " "Curtis Le May wants to bomb Hanoi and Haiphong. You know how he likes to go around bombing. " " A President's hardest task is not to do what is right, but to know what is right. "

Lyndon B. Johnson

I don't like war and it sucks that so many people have died because of it. BUT I do support what our troops are doing over there. I have SEVERAL friends in each branch of the military that are all in either Afghanistan or Iraq and they sacrifice a lot so that we can have a safe place to live and so that we can enjoy our freedom.

It sickens me that so many young men and women are dying or getting seriously injured for what I perceive as a pointless war. Much more will return from there with mental problems to face the "run around" from the Veterans Administration when they attempt to claim benefits. It's just sad and such an obscene waste of money...

It saddens me to know that innocent people (I am referring both to Iraqi's and US troops) are dying for no reason at all. I had to do a bit of research on the war for school and I was quite disgusted by what I found.

Honestly I wish we could bring the troops home. But then again a lot of the people that live there are happy we are there. It's war, what else can you do?
