Hi there,
I have a 6 month old little girl and my Dr has told me to start weening her off her formula and get her onto homo milk. He told me a GREAT way to make the transition. Start with and 8 ounce bottle ( or whatever you feed her ). Start with 7 ounces of formula mixed with 1 ounce of milk. Try that for a week maybe less, then move to 6 ounces of formula mixed with 2 ounces of milk....keep decreasing formula and increasing the milk. That way it is not as harsh on her system. It is really working for us. We are now giving our little one 3 ounces of formula to 5 ounces of milk. She does not even realize what we are doing.
I hope this helps. It may take a little while to get her right off formula, but it is worth it. It wont upset her tummy as much.

Week one: one ounce milk mixed with 1 ounce water, one time each day.
week two: 1 and 1/2 ounce milk with 1/2 ounce water, one time each day.
week three: 2-4 ounces of whole milk, one time each day
week four: 8 ounces whole milk each day
week five: 16 ounces of whole milk each day.
Continue to give formula along with milk until week 5. DO NOT mix milk with formula. Give milk separately from sippy cup or regular cup. After week 5 formula will be eliminated and whole milk will take over.
Give only whole milk until age 2. After age 2 reduce to 2% milk.

Do it gradually. If you mix three parts formula to one part milk until she gets used to it, and then slowly increase the milk while decreasing the formula, you shouldn't have too much of a fight.

I would say slowly, and try mixing half formula and half milk... cows milk can be constipating for babies so you need to try it a little at a time and slowly so your not in the doctors office with a very upset baby...

once my son turned one, i just gave him his first bottle of whole milk before bed time, when he's usually at his hungriest. he took right to it, no problems. i don't think your daughter will have a problem drinking it, unless she's lactose intolerant which you would probably know by know since i'm sure she's had cheeses and yogurt and such. she should be fine. good luck. =)

I would recommend 1% milk, but if you want to introduce her to whole milk then that is your choice. She will noitce the difference in taste, so you have to be patient with her. Eventually she will get used to the milk and not want to drink formula anymore.

give her a little at a time and give it time to see if she is alergic to it.Then after a few days she should adjust to the change.
