i am trying to find out how much a property was sold for in 1997, and the average house price at the time, any ideas for websites, much appreiciated.

If you google house price search you get a free site that tells you prices, dates etc just from a postcode.

The only real place for this information will be at your local county clerks office, or whatever position maintains property records where you live.

Go to www.mypropertyspy.co.uk. Register - it's free - and you can see what houses were sold for years ago, or recently.
