Europe.
America is still so young, so it's not very rich in history.
Take a history book for example, you can see chapters upon chapter about the European history and about America it's starts at the 15th century.
American history is usually about politics, wheras European you have a wide variety of history.
you have:
-The Early Middle Ages (450-1000)
-The High Middle Ages (1000-1300)
-The Origin of European Nations (1150-1580)
-The Renaissance (1300-1600)
-The Spanish Empire and Shifts in European Power (1500-1650)
-England: Tudor Queen and Stuart Kings (1558-1688)
-Europe in the Age of the Absolute Monarchs (1648-1763)
-The French Revolution and Napoleon (1789-1815)
-World War I (1914-1918)
-Russian Revolution (1825-1939)
-World War II (1939-1945)

You also have famous figures such as : Mozart, Bach, Manet, Monet, Stalin, Hitler, Gorbachev, King Ludwig II, Tchaikovsky, Lenin, Frederick Barbarossa, Henry VIII, Louis IX, Martin Luther, Julius Ceasar, Mark Anthony...

Famous words such as: Greek Mythology, Holy Roman Empire, Athenian Pottery, Prussia, Renaissance, The Roman Republic, Classical music, Vikings, Christian Crusades, Berlin Wall, Ukrainian famine...

Europen history is more interesting for me. Amerian history talks more about how it became a nation, whereas Europe is so rich in history itself, because it's so old. There is so much to see. Look at the architecture, it's absolutely beautiful. Alone these buildings whisper of their stories and times.

I am an American living in Europe. Been here for over 20 years. I love my home country, but we cannot not even begin to compare to the history spread across this continent like jelly over peanut butter. The USA just has not exhisted long enough.

Amina is very correct.

Come over and check it out.
Walk the streets Spain and see the buildings and ruins from before Christ.
Walk through museums and buildings in Italy built by the romans and still in use.
Stop in a resturant or hotel that was originally built in the year 900AD.
Best is examine the history of one city or country and drive 2 hours and it changes sooooooo much.

To be honest it's hard not to hear about North America on a daily basis, seeing as the US is the super power of the world and it's influence stretches so far world wide. When I turn on the telly, I'd say about 55% to 65% of the programs are American; the rest are British. We learnt about North America in history; sorry if this offends, but I find the whole affair depressing as hell, the massacre of Natives, the decimation of Incas in Mexico, slavery in the Caribbean. And knowing it was Europeans like us that did that makes it even worse. That said, we like the people of North America. Some of the nicest people I've met have been American, Canadian, Mexican, Jamaican, Haitian, etc.

I am European (Irish) and i find American history much more interesting than European history. Particularly the American civil war i have read several books on the subject . I also find the early exploration of the American Continent interesting from Alva nunes cabeza da vaca when he found himself stranded in the west to Lewis and Clark crossing the continent.
I have found out about these characters and events on my own so i have read about characters and events i have found interesting .

The reason i find American history more interesting is when i studied European history i was in school and was being taught about what it was felt i should know about such things as the 1916 rising in Ireland and the famine and European kings and queens so i was not given a choice as to which parts i wished to learn about so i learned about lots of things i did not find interesting at all
.
The history of the Irish struggle for emancipation and forced emigration is very interesting the great famine and Europe's royalty although important historical events i did not find them very interesting .

So maybe they are both equally interesting in there own way and given the choice we would pick out points from each that we would find interesting to us personally.
