I was just wondering, when you found out that you were gay did it just hit you like a ton of bricks like tada I'm gay. Or was it more of a gradual thing? Also, do you feel like soceity as a whole is more comfortable with homosexuals or is it still like it was in the 80's where you had to hide it.? Just curious.

I am not trying to offend anyone. So please don't be angry with my ignorance.

Just to let you know I am pro-gay marriages. Who you love and choose to be with should not be dictated by the government.

for me it was something that i already knew. and for us it is still hard you almost do have to hide. some of my friends dont know, im worried that they will think that i like them or something. it happends all the time, just cause your gay everybody thinks that your going to hit on them.

Like many others I knew I was "different" at a very early age say K-3 it wasnt untill I hit puberty and did some personal exploration did I know who I turely was.
As for society, as more people come forward(and even at earlier ages) society will become more comfortable with it when they relize that "were everywhere" Some of us hide it to protect others just not ourselves, I believe that I will see the day when homophobia wont be so rampit.

I always knew I was different. When I was little I wasn't sure what it was but when I hit puberty I knew exactly what was going on> I live in CT and this is a really liberal state so I've always been out and proud and never suffer any kind of discrimination, but I understand things are not so easy in other parts of the country

I guess I've always known. I denied ot for years. I mean, eventually I ended up persuing my curiosity and that's how I found out. I feel equality is not where it SHOULD be, but we are defenitly improving. It's tough though, being a gay teen, there's not much for us. I mean, we can't go to gay bars, local clubs DO have teen dances, but it's tough because almost everyone's straight. Not too many 15 year olds are open with their sexuality, some have no clue that they're gay, and some are denying it. I feel that we should have more places for gay teens, and glbt people in general to feel open in.

I knew when I was in grammar school in the 1970's. I also knew at an early age that there would be hateful, ignorant people like nomo. However, it is a free country and we are all entitled to our opinions whether others like them or not. I would think that that goes for both gay people and those who hate us.

As with many, I knew I was different from other kids, but I wasn't sure then what it was.
