Does synthroid make you lose weight?

I'm new to the medication and was curious...Thanks in advance!

No, it does not. What i does do is stop you from gaining any more weight once you are at the right levels. With Synthroid, you would want the morning TSH around 1.0 to stop weigh gain. At around a 1.0, you should be able to lose weight with diet and exercise hopefully. If not, then there are things like trying different medications or testing for insulin resistance or diabetes.
