i just started my period and it has been itching down the that general area, does this mean that i have yeast infection? how do you know if you have yeast infection?

Yeast infections will itch and have discharge. May or may not be foul smelling.
Perhaps you are dry there or having a reation to a soap.

It's possible it's a yeast infection. Yeast infections are itchy and cause a discharge. Some women are prone to them if they eat too much sugar when they PMS.

To be on the safe side, wear a pad rather than a tampon. You can use an OTC treatment while on your period as long as you wear a pad. If that doesn't clear it up, call your doctor.

Not necessarily. You could be irritated by the pad (if you're wearing them).

The sympoms of Yeast Infection are itching and a foul, white cottage-cheese-like discharge.

Keep an eye on it and keep it clean. If the bad discharge appears, see your doctor.

usually if it is a yeast infection it will be yellowish and have a bread-y or kinda sour smell to it.
