eh.... He (and something of the band) replaced into more advantageous powerful again in the days of the Black Album. each thing after that kinda went downhill. Dont' get me incorrect, i appreciate Metallica. I in simple terms favor their old stuff. the hot tracks sound to poppy and compelled for me. i in my opinion believe that the great American Rockstars "ever" were: Jim Morrison Elvis Jimi Hendrix Phil Anselmo (Pantera) Zakk Wylde oh guy, i am going to end now. there is too many. and there is not any valid tie breaker for them. *sigh*

That's really based completely on opinion, but personally, I'd say no.
I'm very fond of Led Zeppelin as a whole. So that would be my pick.

Maybe he is to you but Freddie Mercury is the greatest in my opinion.. But James is awesome..

not the best, although he is, without a doubt, up there. he was amazing.. he had great talents. he was a good songwriter, for starters. he was great rhythm guitar.. many great riffs came from him. and last, he was forced into vocal duties, but developed his voice and eventually was a great singer.
