Id Have him Cover it with car cover out of sun. Not being waxed for so long will Fade the paint and destroy your clear coat. Then have him drive it around to where it would lube all Joints. Keeping the breaks from rusting and all engine seals lubed up. Do it at least every two weeks. When you get back Get a tune up and oil change.

Five months is not an awful lot of time to leave the car untended; although your friend could start it and let it run for at least ten minutes a couple of times each week to ensure that it reaches normal operating temperature. The biggest thing to worry about is water damage, either from condensation (in the pipes, the fuel tank, or the engine). I'd try to park it somewhere in the shade, like in a carport or garage, as the Miami sun will bake it otherwise.

At the very least have him start it once or twice a week. I'd also say park it in a dry location because of the amount of rain that may get settled in the car over five months could be damaging over time.

I'd put in a storage garage, if you leave it outside, there won't be anything left but the screws from the license plate.
