I am 37 weeks and since 3:30am yesterday morning i have been feeling REALLY bad. I noticably dropped over night, i am having a lot of tightning in my stomach like contractions but not with much pain, my back hurts and last night i was just misreable with my legs and back!! I havent lost my mucus plug and have only had a few really hard pains? Could I be getting ready for labor or is this just to be expected at this point? I have a baby shower sunday and its almost a 2 hour drive im worried i will go into labor on the way!

Your body may be preparing for labor, but it could take several weeks still. I had the same symptoms for almost a month before I gave birth. Just take comfort in the fact that the more work your body does now, the less it will have to do in hard labor.

With my first pregnancy i started having pains just like that, irregular contractions.
I rushed to the hospital and was there for hours before they finally sent me back home.
When the contractions became regular, the next day or two later, i started timing them. When the contractions were 5 min apart and consistent and a little painful i went back to the hospital.
I had a beautiful baby boy 17.5 hours later.
Labor is very unpredictable, you never know until it actually happens.
I too never seen my mucus plug so it probably came out when i was already at the hospital and in labor.
When Sunday rolls around see how your body is feeling, if your just not up to the drive then trust your instincts and stay home! Everyone will understand :)

All of that is basically to be expected. I have been that same way for the past 2 weeks and Im now over 38 weeks with my 4th baby. Ive been sick, in pain, having non painful contractions every 15 minutes or so , and havent been able to sleep at night. I dont know if a 2 hour drive is the greatest idea though. Just ask your doctor about that and see what he or she says. . If this is your first baby, Im sure you stil have a little ways to go with it. With my first I had my baby the day before the due date and had also felt the same way for over a month before anything happened. Good luck with everything.

Sounds like you are close, no one can tell you for sure though. I would go to your dr and get checked before you travel 2 hours away. Atleast then you will know if you are dilated more or what's going on. When I had my first baby, I had no signs, I lost my mucus plug then my water broke a couple of weeks later, I never had strong contractions. Good Luck!

Don't be worried go to your shower and have a good time. I dropped around 33 weeks and delivered at 39 weeks. You are getting ready but you can't live the rest of your pregnancy close to your hospital. Go have a good time and do keep in mind that your baby is getting ready but dropping does not mean your baby is coming this week or even next week.

It could be a sign of getting ready for labor but chances are it is just to be expected at this point. I remember when I was around 37 weeks with my second daughter I had thought the same thing....even carried my hospital bag with me if I had to go anywhere....BUT she was not born until her due date.

It definitely sounds like you might be getting close, maybe see if you can see your Dr. before you go on a 2 hour car drive. You could possibly be in early labor. Good luck.

I think you should call a doctor and ask just to be sure but it sounds like your body is getting ready for labor. When you start to feel pain and measure how long it last.If you start feeling something and and they are only three to five minutes apart then you need to get to the hospital.Do not drive by yourself.Be careful.Good luck and congratulations!!!!!!!!!
