It's an annual television fund raising campaign in the UK. The proper name for the campaign is Comic Relief, although its emblem is a red nose (each year you can buy and wear a red nose to show your support. The campaign has been running for over 20 years and has raised over £480 million for charity.

Members of the public phone in and pledge money to charities which help the underprivileged both in Africa and the UK, in return for lots of UK comedians giving up their services for free to make a night of comedy which is shown on the TV.

These days, not many people actually wear the red noses, but it's still called "red nose day" affectionately. People generally use the day as an excuse to dress up in their offices, hold cake sales, or anything else they can think of to raise funds.

A waste of the UK's hard earned money to be spent, mostly, in African countries so that it can be scimmed off by their politicians.

Same thing with 'Children in Need'.

What about Animals in Need every second year ?

its the time people and english celebraties act like prats to raise money for poor people in africa, my after thought is, if all the charites raised wealth was managed properly there will be no poor person in this world.

so my conclusion is, someone is getting rich and the poor are still poor

It is a scam for hasbeens, and neverweres to get their names and faces known either again or for the first time, I do not watch any of this dross or read the drivel that is written about such things as all it does is line the pockets of the already obscenely rich.
