I took off all the tiles but some areas need new green board due to decay/mildew and hammer damage. Is there a way to remove it it larger sized pieces?

Thanks!!

Ain't no easy way. Just pull it all off and replace it with "all" new. You have to buy full sheets anyway.....why patch and do a second or third class job.....isn't that why you have to replace it in the first place?

Since everyone agrees, that you need to take it all out, finish the job correctly, and install cement backer board, instead of green board. It is a far better product, and better than green board. Green board is only moisture resistant, not waterproof. Cement backer board will shed water better. The other thing to do, is install a moisture barrier FIRST, then the cement backer board, then your tile. It will last longer, and be stronger. I wish you luck!

I agree. Rip it all out and start over. It will be faster and easier than trying to patch. And the finished job will look better and last longer.
