Also how hot do the summers get? Am I making a good choice relocating there? Or will I be swept away by a tornado?

All depends on where you are coming from. It is cold and windy here in the winter, bitter cold. We had a month where it never got to 0. It gets as hot as 100 here in the summer. Like everywhere else in the world, temps are changing, we had mild weather up till December, then boom! Freezing. Spring will last a couple weeks, then it will be hot. There is a good chance you will see a few tornados, there is always a watch or a warning everytime it rains. Like everywhere else, anything is possible at anytime. I would recommend Columbus as well as anywhere else. You do the same thing anywhere you are,...........adapt! to your surroundings, right?

No, your house probably won't be swept away by a tornado! Most likely not. And yes there is some snow in Columbus during the winter, I live in Minnesota and have visited Columbus a few times during the winter and summer. There is some snow on the ground it's generally a mild winter and a hot summer, the summer's don't get too hot there the most would probably be up to about 90-100 degrees over the summer but will probably stay around the 80's. I think it's a great idea to move there. It's nice and mild and has quite beautiful weather.

Be warned of Ohio weather- January can have 60 degree days and then drop to 30 the next day (March does the same- especially this March!). After living in the snow belt for 1 year, I would say Columbus does not get much snow at all. There will usually be 1-2 good snowfalls per winter, but it doesn't stick for very long at all. The wind is also very bad because it's completely flat. Generally, there's not much snow until after Christmas. If you want more snow go up toward Cleveland- it makes a huge difference since they get the lake effect.

Summers are really not excessively hot. There will be a few hot weeks (90-100 degrees), but mostly it sticks in the 80s.

I also have to say that Columbus is a wonderful city! I went to OSU, and not being much of a partier, I explored the city instead. The shopping and entertainment are fantastic (although no professional sports, but at least you have the Buckeyes- a very good substitute). They also have a minor league baseball team (the Clippers), a hockey team (the Blue Jackets), and the Columbus Crew (soccer- oh yeah, they're major leagues). There are some really nice areas of town if you just want to go driving (or you know, if you want to live in a really nice neighborhood), and some really artsy areas (Short North and Grandview). They also have a large variety of restaurants. Really, it's a great place to live.

The seasons here really are not all that bad. The last couple of years cold winter really hasn't started until Jan. From Jan to March you might have a snow storm or two, but it usually melts in a couple of days. Spring is from March until May. We do get plenty of rain during this time, but not like Seattle:) Summer heat starts in late may until early September. We're talking temps 80-100's. Not dry heat like Arizona:) And Fall lasts from around September to 1st snow fall around Halloween. But like I said, the cold really doesn't start until late Dec early jan. The last couple of years weve had highs in 60's during December.
Columbus is a pretty all around town w/ something for everyone. Sports, music, museums, a zoo and were smack dab in the middle of the state, so it's just a short drive to Cleveland or Cincinnati if you get bored here.
The people in Columbus are generally friendly and pretty easy going. It's a very diverse city. You'll find people from all backgrounds, cultures and religions.

summers are pretty nice here. doesnt get too hot and cools at nite. dont have to use my ac much here. winters arent bad. we can go a few years without getting alot of snow. we had one storm this year with about 6-8 inches. february temps can get a tad cold but its not bad. most of the snow passes north of us and tornados are a possiblity but not all that often.

i replaced into born and notably plenty raised in Wisconsin. So each and every Christmas replaced right into a white Christmas. whilst i replaced into approximately 10 we moved to Washington State. Its uncommon we get any snow. As a new child, of direction I enjoyed the snow. yet each and every person out right here hates it, or so it sort of feels. So whilst it snows right here, each and every person gets very uptight and grouchy. yet I dont concepts it. i admire seeing the snow. It jogs my memory of my actual domicile.
