How much weight can a person lose being on Adderall in a few weeks of time or approx. one month. I have just been just prescribed this med for ADD. I was just researching the side effects, and noticed you lose weight too. I have noticed two side effects already, loss of appetitte and dry mouth(always need to keep water with me). I have never drank sooo much water before getting on Adderall. Can you go anorexic being on this drug? I just went shopping, and i bought shirts that are a size medium, they fit snuggly - but, i am afraid over a month, they might be too big. I do work out alot(4-5x per week) - so will working out take a toll on this too? please help I need serious replies

Adderall will not make you become anorexic, no medication will - if you ARE already anorexic, you should NOT be taking it though as it will contribute to your ability to starve yourself. You WILL lose weight taking Adderall as it is an amphetamine and will seriosly suppress your appetite. Continue to eat healthfully as possible. If you absolutely cannot eat ever - you need to go back to the MD and let them know that this side effect is not going away and get on another medication.

This drug should not cause anorexia, but weight loss is a side effect for some, due to a loss of appetite experienced while on the drug. Usually, this side effect goes away after a couple weeks or so, at least it did for me. I lost about 10 pounds when I first started taking it. Be careful though, this drug can also cause increased heart rate, so you may want to work out when the drug is not in your system, just to be safe.
I recommend talking to your prescribing physician about the side effects and possibly about your exercise regimen and any past or current health issues.

no you cannot go annorexic using this medication. i am currently on it. yes it kills your appetite. what you need to do is not eat rich foods so that when you do have an appetite you are taking in mroe good calories and fewer bad calories. if you are eating all rich food then whaat is happening is your filling up faster on a lesser amount of food. this means less enrgy for you. so thats how you fix that. just constan fruits and vegetables. always keep a baggy of carrots or an apple with you. so if you do get a flickering sensation of hunger you can eat or graze a little. even if your not hungry at meal time, you will have enough nutrition and calories to keep you alive and well.

Be careful with that stuff. Its like meth in pill form (a lighter version) It makes you feel totally tweeked which is why you lose your appetite and have dry mouth. Dont overwork your body on that stuff because your heart is racing anyway. You could go into somewhat of a starvation state because when your going like that you dont feel hungry. Your body should get used to it but for now avoid caffeibe and try to eat before you take it. If you dont like the way it makes you feel tell your DR and try to get on something else. I know people who took it recreationally just because of its meth like effects.

first of all taking medicine to loose a wieght is not proper. it always causes side effects.
medicines are prescribed by doctor only in extreme case. i seriously advice u not to take it.
i myself was overwieght but within last 6 months i exercised and did yoga specially pranayam and seiously i lost about 10 kgs
i recommend u to exercise i.e. jogging, cycling, swimming etc. or simply do yoga which i did.

You won't lose so much weight that you will waste away but it will however effect your heart rate within time. And, often people get immune to it, it won't work anymore yet they still get the racing heart side effect if they continue to take it, hoping it will work again.

I take Adderal also... Try to eat before you take it. Also, get your doctor to prescribe Marinol... (THC in pill form) it will help with he appetite issue....but I would only use at night because it will defeat the purpose of taking Adderal...

you will lose weight, and loss of appetite ( depending on dosage and tolerance)i woud'nt say you could go anorexic, but the loss of appetite does take over sometimes. if youre taking 20+mg eat before you take it.
