bettas are generally a hardier fish. they are not as picky about temperature, and air filtration as guppies are.

I had good luck with both when I used to keep fish. I love the Beta's tho, their so beautiful to look at and come in so many colors! The guppies needed their tank cleaned more often then the Betas and Betas need different food, but other than that no real differences in care.

Oh, the guppies are cheaper btw. And the rule of thumb with fish is usually 1 fish per gallon of water so you could add more. Some fish can be put together, we had all kinds in with our beta when we infused the tanks!

It's a can't miss - both of these fish are cheap and easy to care for in a 5 gallon tank. It becomes a question of your own personal preference. The main benefit of the guppies is that you can easily go with half a dozen in your 5 gallon tank.

Guppies are bred from such skinny inventory at present that they are fairly sickly, companies to die for possible no reason in any appreciate. They die all the speedier whilst on my own, so in case you circulate this course, get extra suitable than one or 2. shop the water sparkling. Bettas are plenty hardier, and frequently might desire to be on my own. Male and male is a undeniable combat, lady and male is a probable combat. you are able to shop women mutually as long as you get various and verify hiding places for much less aggressive fish. different than that, maintenance is undemanding.

Betta's.
We had one that lived for two years.
All we had was a big betta "vase" that I put a couple of philodendrin (Sp?) sprouts in. (The phil's loved the betta water).
Would clean his tank once every two weeks.
They don't eat very much either and they are pretty.

Bettas. You can have only one betta per bowl, but they don't have to have oxygen. They can live in a small bowl (they like small places), with very little care except to change their water from time to time and feed.
