Yes try another test...
Other things besides pregancy can cause late or skipped periods: Stress, change in diet, change in exercise pattern, various drugs and medications, oddly enough, changing roommates (seriously) , illness, and sometimes they just skip...
And without being too cynical or tring to scare you, sometimes you are pregnant for a few days, and then you miscarry...your hormones show you aren't pregnant...yet your body hasn't reset its own cycle yet.
In any case, you might want to call your Doctor.

The test detected my pregnancy the day before my period was due...so i would say if your 12 days late it would be able to pick it up for sure unless the hormone levels are too low...then you should have a blood test taken...if your this late and worried go to the doctor thats the best thing to do...

Now a days as early as 5 days before you miss your period. Try a different test just to be sure it was not a false negative though.

Your supposed to be able to tell right after you miss--if you think your pg go get a blood test at your dr that is what i always did so that i wouldn't have to waste the money on an at home test. Those are expensive!! i don't have a copay on labs!!

I would think by than it should be accurate, but the test could be defective so take another one. If that one says negative than I would think most likely you are not pregnant.
