This is a known problem with Office 2007. Believe it or not, installing Office 2007 breaks Outlook Express English spell checking (actually it installs a later spell check tool which is incompatible with Outlook Express). Here is Microsoft's article about the problem: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/932974/en-us?spid=2578
To fix, you have two options. First, you can put in an Office 2003 CD and install the English proofing tools *only*, or you can download a free third party spell checker such as
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2952 or http://www.tinyspell.m6.net/ (Checks the spelling as you type).

Most of the Outlook Express error messages are due to problems with the internet connection, not the software on your computer.

forget Beavis and Butt heads!!! In Word, go to Tools, language, then select which language and dialect you want to use as you dictionary. in Outlook, go to tools, options, spelling, then select language.
