I had all my labor in my back and it didn't move around to my stomache either. It started out with a feeling of spasms. My in-laws said it might be labor pains, but I wasn't sure until at ob appt my midwife said it was probably contractions. I still have backpain today... it's been 3 yrs now (well.. 2 mths will be 3 yrs). See if you notice a pattern or an intensifying increase in the pain... you could be in labor, but I'm not an obstetrician! You can always get checked out at the office and see what happens from there !

Hi,
Everybody is different. I didn't even know at first that my contractions had really started. I thought my lower back hurts for some other reason. The pain came and went, but I thought maybe I slept in a bad position or something of that sort. If my Mom-in-law - with whom I spoke on the phone while this was going on - doesn't advise me to go the emergency room, I would have had my baby at home or on the way to the hospital... :). Well, not too long after I got to the hospital though - my goodness (!) - there was no doubt in my mind that in was in labor.

No it is more like an ache. I had all my contractions in my back. It starts by feeling like a bad back ache that keeps coming and going. I didn't even know it was labor until my water broke. You are probably just having back spasms which is common with all the extra weight in the front.

sounds like it to me I had them the whole day before I had my daughter the whole day they kept coming and goig so i went to bed that night to be awoken by my water breaking at 420 am. BUT keep in mind that everyones labor process is different depening on the person and the baby. Pains could be because of the babies positions as well.

I had back labor, and that doesnt sound like it to me. I have pinched nerves and a crushed compressed disk in my lower back and neck from sports injuries. The back labor felt like my period, cause I get cramps back there.

but during my whole pregnancy my lower back would ache, and cramp, and seize up.

I knew it was labor when my whole stomach cramped up at the same time.

Yes, in your lower back. Sadly if it stays there it gets worse. Sometimes the contractions even couple. They come one behind the next no break in between.

Mine hurt right at my kidneys and radiated around....like a really bad kidney infection...

Sometimes a pregnancy back ache is just a back ache...
