Are laws that ban medical marijuana unconstitutional?

I'm pretty sure the 10th ammendment does not allow the federal government to outlaw the smoking of a natural plant, maybe a state goverment can, but not the federal. Hey if they could do that with marijuana, why don't they outlaw tobbaco, and stop the smokers from using it to harm themselves. If the potheads would put down that joint, get up off the couch and get the supreme court to hear a medical marijuana case, they could make pot legal.

Not only would medicinal marijuana be of help to a dying patient that needs to take the edge off, but it could seriously help the economy. A lot of domestic farmers have been losing money steadily over the years do to imports, high gas costs, and climate changes. If we allowed some of these farmers to grow marijuana for medicinal purposes, we could boost the economy in that area up quite a bit. If the government is worried about too much marijuana growth, they could require farmers to have to obtain a special license to do this and only grow it in a fenced-in area that people could not steal from.

I know in South Dakota, there is a huge burn off of marijuana every year that grows wild. Of course wild marijuana or "ditch weed" as we lovingly used to refer to it, is no good- but it certainly proves that marijuana can be grown there.

There was a case that I read about. A 42 yr old female with multiple health issues that make eating difficult and pain uncontrollable without Marijuana. She must smoke or eat it every 4 hours or so to gain an appetite and keep food down. Her pain management is no longer sufficient with the prescribed treatment and, it was her cancer treatment specialist that suggested she be placed on Medical Marijuana as part of her continued care plan. She is going too die either way, but her doctor felt this may give her some benefit that other cancer meds cannot provide. She said she will not allow the government at any level, control her life or her demise.

though i dont approve of casual pot smoking i think if someone is terminally ill it is wrong to deny them whatever relief they can find as long as it is not done around young kids and in the privacy of their own homes.why should it be illegal if you say codeine is ok,or you say metadone is ok,or you say vicodin is ok.we all know these drugs are being mis used but they are still prescibed,so whats the deal.its about money if they could regulate it so they could tax it it would be legal tommorrow or if the big drug companies could regulate that only they could manufacture it and sell it it would be done.everything is about money or power thats all they care about.

yes,I mean,what's alcohol? A big killer!! yet,lets put bars/clubs and stores all over the place and advertise "Alcohol here,drive here and grab some,drink it and then get behind the wheel and take someone's life because it was sooooo important to you to have that drink" SMART!! Marijuana is much safer than alcohol,so I dont get it!
