No- ask your parents to call her - you shouldn't have had the camera at school in the first place.

Talk to your teacher first. If that doesn't work, have your parents speak to him/her. Then both you and your parents go to the principal if that work. There may be some school district policy against cameras for all you know.

Reporting the teacher to the police may be shooting yourself in the foot down the road. I would advise against it. See if you can work things out in a diplomatic way to get the camera back. You'll attract more flies with honey than vinegar.

A person of authority in your school has the right to remove property that is not allowed doing school hours - this generally includes electronic devices.
Have your parents call the school and ask for them to collect your property.

Are you allowed to take pictures at school, during an assembly?. If you are have your Parents contact School Officials.

The school may have the authority to take the camera if you were using it during school hours -- that's dependent on local laws.

But the school must return your property, either to you or to your parents, if your parents request it. That's the legal protection.

You obviously were not supposed to be taking pictures but you did anyway. The teacher removed your camera to prevent you from using it. He/She will no doubt give it back.

If you follow the rules, you usually don't have problems, you know.
