I hope you don't mind if I reccomend more than one. There's Catcher in the Rye from J.D. Sallinger.Classic literature. It's a coming of age story. If you're into philosophy, there's both Nietzsche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra and Beyond Good & Evil. Both practically say the same thing, but Zarathustra is done in a metaphorical/fictional style, while BG&E is more systematic.Even if you're not a writer, there's On Writing from Stephen King.I thought that memoir was better than his horror stories. If you like fantasy,I'd strongly reccomend Abarat from Clive Barker.Anything from William Blake or Dylan Thomas if you like poetry.A novella called The Hellbound Heart from Clive Barker is a good Horror story. It was the basis for his film Hellraiser...but much better.

1984 - George Orwell.
This should be mandatory reading for everyone, a warning to all about what might happen if we don't pay attention to the way Government is running society.
A good follow on from this concept, although slightly more light hearted and more recent is Queen Camilla by Sue Townsend.
Another good Orwell book is Animal Farm.

What sort of question is that? Not knowing you nor your interests, I could suggest 'The Beano Annual', 'Noddy in Toyland', 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof', 'Casino Royale', 'The Savage Garden'. Why don't you go to a decent book store, check out a few books which capture your imagination and decide for yourself.
