Honey, do not feel obligated to be his crutch. Heroin is one of the worst drugs out there. If he does not recognize he has a serious drug problem and doesn't want to do something to get away from it, you'd better be the one to get away from him.
There are many factors involved in using heroin. It is one of the most addictive drugs and one of the harder ones to quit. It is expensive and once he runs out of 'lunch money' he will have to resort to crime to get it. It makes you IMPOTENT while you are under its influence and can leave you permanently impotent from sustained use! Once you are totally hooked, there is no substitute for its effect, not even the love you feel you have for him now. He will drag you down with him. If you really love him, get a responsible adult to advise him. If you really love yourself, get away from him!

unfortunatly, there is no good answer for this question.
You cant get him to stop. He wont stop unless he WANTS to stop. Take it from someone who's been down this road many times to know what they're talkin about. There is only basically 2 options,
1) accept the fact that he does drugs-and keep him, even if you dont want him to do them. or
2) leave him-because he's not going to quit.
I hope everything works out for you. And in the end, just follow your heart. Trust me, though, it would be better for you to get out right now, because it WILL, not could, but WILL ruin your life if you stay with him. Best of luck!

You should sit down and explain to him your feelings...and give him the choice. If you are more important than the drug, he will make the decision to get help and stop. You should not stay with him out of pity though or he will throw your life into his habit. Make the choice his...you cannot "make" someone quit an addiction. They have to want it.

He's addicted and you must tell his parents because he needs treatment only they can get for him. Don't put the burden on yourself to deal with this, he got himself into it. It's not your job. Sticking around for the pity party and enabling him will not help him one bit.

Sounds like he's fairly young and by that I mean young enough that it isn't his life legally. He needs help and rehab or he won't ever get old enough to legally have that life. Period.

By putting up with it, you are enabling him and he is going to kill himself. You need to tell a counselor so that he can get help. Believe me, you will save his life.

He needs rehab. Talk to him about it and get others who care about him to participate. Check out www.hazelden.org and www.aa.org.
