Sorry folks, I didn't mean "edge", as in tidy up, I meant to "edge" as in what to put round it to finish it off.

Need some info what is the soil like around the lawn ? is the lawn sod or seeded. what do you plan for the use of the lawn such as are children going to play on it often? There are a lot of choices out there to use on edging your lawn from rolls of special lawn edging of black plastic, to cement edging you can purchase from Wal Mart, or you can edge it with treated wood, rocks, bricks or some just use a edging tool to keep the grass cut neatly and don't edge it at all.

If you mean cutting a nice edge in the lawn then use a length of hosepipe to give you a guide to cut round with a edging tool. Tent pegs or similar are good for holding it down. If you mean materials to create an edge then go to a DIY store and find edging materials, they usually come in rolls. Hope this helps

Just edge with an edging iron to get a nice clean edge then trim once a fortnight with edging shears or when needed.
If you want you could always lay a row of block paving in cement round the edge to save you trimming the edge every 2 weeks, it dose look nice as well.

i am a farmboy and do this everyday, rain or shine.you turn a weedwacker on its edge so the nylon grazes the edge of the grass and you just walk along the edge harder than it sounds hope your lawns not too big.

Long nails can be harbingers for bacteria, especially if they are artificial, but these people are good for scratching and starting those little foil wrapped containers that are so hard to get in to.

nail scissors
or theres shears u can get, got two long handles with a blade almost at a right angle to the handles. they work fairly well.
