What type of dancing (ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, etc) I can give you some pointers if it's one of the forms I know. Sometimes it's just a matter of understanding how your body needs to move.

Ok, you just responded that you don't take a dance class. Of course being a dance teacher I'm going to suggest you enroll in a hip-hop class for beginners. That will give you a great sense of rhythm, will help you figure out how to move your body, and will still look cool at the clubs. Also, your teachers will be able to teach you basic moves that you will be able to build on. That being said I'm going to assume that you don't want to take classes or you already would be. So here are some tips
-Observe those who dance around you. Watch how they move their bodies and try to remember so you can go home and practice
-Put on some music with a good beat (not to fast, not to slow, Golddigger comes to mind it's been out for awhile but has a great beat) and dance in front of a mirror. Start with some step touches, I know it sounds cheezy but it should help you get the rhythm in your body. Once you feel comfortable with this then add in a clap, then add a little body roll in, keep building this one dance move up, until it evolves into something you like.
-Watch Mtv, I know that they don't play videos all that often but when they do they almost always have some dancers in them. TIVO them and watch and try to copy their moves.
-Ok, I'm going to get dancer teacher on you, the BEST dancers know how to feel the music not just in their body but in their soul. So before you dance think about what the song is saying and how you could move your body to interpret that song.
Good Luck!

Learn as much as you can. Anyone with experience can help you in the long run. Just keep an open mind and stay on your toes.
