I am 13 years old and I have spinal bifida and I can't walk, I have to use a wheelchair and I don't have no friends, when I will be with my mom somewhere and I will see kids and they will start staring at me and say mom that girl in the wheelchair is ugly and I would not want to be her friend out loud where i can hear them then I start to cry and my mom would tell them to stop and they will start lauging at me. What do I do to make friends?

I know what it is like to be the outcast where people stare at u like you have 3 eyes, but i found that the best thing u can do is have confidence, when u walk into that room everyone already is your friend. (i did that and now i one of most popular :) )

listen kimberley, 13 is very age difficult for everyone, it's not just cause you're in wheelchair. You're becoming a teenager, and it's a realy tough time. I'm 16 years old, and three years ago, i was picked on alot because i got good grades.. Kids can be very mean to one another, and always try to point out the differences! But you will find your true friends pretty soon, I CAN GUARANTEE it.. There are however a few things you can do to become more popular and make friends easier.. here are a few ideas :
* First of all, you have to be yourself. If you show the world that you're confident and have no problem with being in a wheelchair, then they won't have a problem with it either. Trust me, it's all in the way you prove you are sure of yourself.
If you hear any mean comments, just ignore them.. or answer back politely, saying that it doesnt affect you.
* Create a blog/site : with personal pictures, a profle page with your interests, pictures of your family, ideas, quotes, and let the people your own age know who you are.
*Organize a party : invite your class, or fellow neighbors over, and organize games, drinks, food, and entertainment..

that's horrible, people that make fun of you will find it even funnier if you get upset by what they say.
sadly a LOT of people are mean and inconsiderate idiots who don't know anything about manner's or how to be nice.
as hard as it will be, don't let them or what they say get to you :) I can't imagine how you feel cuz I am not in a wheel chair but my mom does work with handy capped children so I respect them and have a little sense how they feel.
don't be hurt by they re mean word's but instead smile and say to them " well your mean so I am glad I am NOT your friend" be nice about it you don't wanna go down to they re level by being mean like them but just say it smiling and know in your heart you really don't wanna be friend's with such mean horrible people.

i am sorry about you being in a wheelchair. you need to worry about the people who stare and say "look at, shes ugly, shes in a wheelchair." just let me say that you r not ugly, you are beautiful no matter what, they r just making fun of you bcause you cant do things that they can do, but i know that you can do a lot more than you think, so keep ur head up and smile proud becuase i will be your e-mail buddy!!!!!

Listen i know u are not ugly... So what if u cant move im sure u can get the whole school to know u... All u have to do is maybe get into a group one day and start talking to them like about what happen on T.V the other day and they will start talking to u get into groups talk to people u cant do it! Good luck...
But dont ever let someone treat u like **** cause ur in a wheel chair.

well first of all flick those kids off who are mean to you or run over their foot with one of your wheels from your wheelchair. Just go socialize with people and be yourself and eventually you will make some friends and if some of the people don't want to be your friend then that's their problem. just be nice, don't worry about kids teasing you! I'd be your friend if I knew you. I am also 13. If they were true friends anyway, they would look past you being in a wheelchair and look at what you have to offer and how nice you are, your personality, your humour, and just who you was and accept you! Kim friends are those who raise ur confidence,motivate u not those who avoid u as u are not like them and not pretty.Yes u are not like them u are even more special.God has seen a brave girl in u who can beat normal people without hesitating.Be brave kim.One day u will emerge a as winner and will have a true friend who will see ur heart not ur prettiness.Its will be only ur confidece which will attract people towards u and then they will want to befriend u.Bless u.Good luck

what good would friendship be from them? Friends if you seek them will most definately see you as a person not as an object. Everyone has curiosities about meeting or re meeting friends if you are feeling insecure or nervous embrace it let that be honest and it will be the spotlight on your freindship true friends will see you!!!! I think you'll find someone out in the world that wont laugh at you.....i mean i have friends who have that....when some laughs at them i go up to the person and i say,"Think about this if someone you loved or cared about was in a wheel chair and someone was laughing at them wat would you do.....imagine if u grew up had a kid and was in a wheel chair, you'd feel horrible because you made fun of someone like that. Your kids are going to have a hard time making frineds so instead of laughing at them and giving yourself a bad reputation get to be friends with them dont make fun of then. You may think they're weird but wat if you the weird one not them?"......My suggestion to you is.....get in conversations...dont hang out with people who do drugs hang out with people that dont care wat other people say about them.
