...do you think that the militant Reconquista crowd and the militant liberal revisionists amongst Americans will actually manage to brainwash the public into feeling regret over history and to give back the Southwest to Mexico?

The U.S. stole the area (purchased some) fair and square. This country will keep it. The most UNIVERSALLY recognized international law is the law of conquest. This is one people need to learn. If you have it, you keep it as long as you can.

Now, if Mexico can take the U.S. southwest back, more power to them. Texas and California won their independence once, before joining the U.S. Should they give up without a fight now? Maybe Spain will want Mexico back. Should the U.S. jump in and help? Then, maybe the Aztecs and Mayas will want to toss out all the european Spanish out. Or should the U.S. help then? Gets kinda complicated, doesn't it?

What about the 500 nations that were here before the first European invaders? Should we have DNA tests to determine everyone's most likely origins and send them back to their homeland?

This is never going to end.

Hello sir. I am an expert on the FIRST conquest of America, by the Spaniards in the 16th century. And the 500 years following that.

To answer your question:
There is NO "conquering "or "giving back" going on these days. These are ideas that ended long long ago, and specifically after World War II. (Ok, the Israelis gave back the sinai penninsula after a very short time in 1967)

Today's conquests are done totally economically. Countries conquer a part of another with financial investments, influence through films, clothing, coca cola.
Do you drive a Japanese auto? Does 20% of America drive a Japanese car? Do you play the stock market in Japan?
Do millions of foreign investors play the NEW YORK stock market? YES.

Nobody has any regret over any event in history. "Sorry, that wasn't my generation". Although the following are very serious by any generation's standards.. do you feel sorry for :
slavery? the a-bomb? the haulocost? AIDS? Chernoble? Human sacrifices of the Aztecs over other Mexicans?

NO.
Therefore... dream on amigo. Nobody is turning the clock back to say, "we're sorry", and nobody is giving anything back to anyone.
VIVA LA RAZA.... and win some politcal seats in Congress. Get a good education and help the hispanics in the Southwestern USA.

The answer is no. If you visit the Southwestern states you will not find much sympathy for the illegal crowd or their supporters. What people don't seem to realize is that this is not a new debate. People in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California have been fighting the good fight on this for more years than I count. The fact that the rest of the country is finally waking up to the problem is good, but they are Johnny Come Latelys in the eyes of the southwestern population. Support for the pro-illegal movement will never be widely accepted in this part of the country.

I doubt it but if I remember my history correctly we would be giving it back to Spain, the masters of the Mexicans. Of course to go back farther we could give it to the Mongols, or even farther and give it to the wapiti and road runners! The Mexicans really don't even have a claim to Mexico if you get right down to it.

nobody wants to give the U.S. southwest back to Mexico.... and Chicanos living in America don't want to be part of Mexico......

want to know why..... because we are Americans!!!!!

we just don't want the hypocrisy of people claiming that our country is being invaded by Mexicans when it is those same Americans that are benefiting from those people that they condemn!!!!!! the fact is that with the proximity to the border the U.S. Southwest and now most of America is slowly but surely becoming bi cultural, bilingual, and more diverse...... and these changing are inevitable regardless of what people like you think!!!!!!1
