i love the portability

it depends on what you use it for, but I would buy a dells no frills laptop...and if you want to get an extended warranty, it's probably a good idea.

I use my laptop (iBook) all the time, but it is most useful when I am traveling and need to keep paying the bills and staying in touch.
It has also been awesome to have beside my desktop (iMac) when I need to be doing 2 things at once or watch a tutorial while I am working.

I would definitely get the new MacBook with the Dual Core - you can run the PC stuff and the Mac stuff, best of both worlds and macs totally rock. I am planning to replace my desktop and laptop with a MacBook next year.
