can the cell company track it or do i have to use the police to do it?

cell phone companies do that. Tell your provider that it's stolen. But they usually can't track it unless a person uses it. These days, those things are often reprogrammed and resold before they try to use them.
You could always call the number and walk around listening for the ringing. Or maybe the thief will answer and you can ask him where he is.

you can try calling the phone and see who answers it. You might be able to talk them in to giving your phone back. Calling the phone company they maybe able to put a tracer on the location. I don't think police would do too much, but you can always try.
As long as they don't replace the sims card I think they can track it if its used.

Well they have a way to track you if you dial 911, but I'm not sure they offer you the service of tracking it when it's stolen...

If you still have the box, in contains the phones unique id, so you can get the phone killed as well as the sim card. rendering the phone useless. the phones id could be used to track it even if the sim card is changed

Most more modern cell phones contain a GPS unit within them. If you can contact your phone company, ask them about it. I'm sure they can help you.

if some one is missing the police will track it but other then that i dont think so but if its just missing like u lost it then just cut it off

if it has onstar in it and you pay the bill all you have to do is call the on star company and answer some questions and they will find it for u
