He got on TV because Oprah thought he was something special. Much like Rachel Ray's new show that's another Oprah production. Dr. Phil has hits and misses with his show and when it starts being more like a Jerry Springer Production that will be the time I stop watching.

Oprah has it in her contracts to television stations that air her show that if any other stations air Dr. Phil, they can't air opposite against each other.

Has nothing to do that. He was one of her advisers when she was on trial for those comments that she made about beef companies. She thought that he would be great on her show. He became so popular that she backed him for his own tv show. Now it is rumored that they no longer speak
