what sanctity of marriage are you talking about? If gay marriage, how is gay marriage a threat to conventional marriage? Will one of the people in said marriage usddenly realize they get better benefits from a gay marriage and get a divorce? Are there secret strike teams of gays/lesbians waiting to rush out into the heartland of america and invade houses of innocent americans and start having sex in thier living rooms? ANd like many others have pointed out the divorce rate in this country is sky high, even among Cons.

Protect it from what? If your marriage isn't strong enough to stand on it's on, then that is YOUR fault. Whether John and Joe Doe down the street get married or not, will not affect my marriage. BTW...the "sanctity" of marriage was on a downward spiral for years before the issue of homosexual marriage even came up, marriage has become "disposable" , divorce is easy to get and kids get married to young. Marriages end because one or both of the parties involved is unhappy and for no other reason.

Why can't conservitives see the validity of marrying two Gay people? Eventually there would be none since they can't reproduce, right? Then there is the argument that Jesus stated that such institutions were given to us for our comfort and you would deny that comfort to others because they sin? Where have I heard that everybody sins and deserves nothing but Hell? Oh yes, in church, so wouldn't Gay sin qualify them as equals?

Let's start with your use of the term "sanctity", which by definition is a religious definition. It is unconstitutional in this country to define secular laws based solely on religious dogma.

As far as "marriage", that same word is used for two entirely unrelated things. People getting their union blessed by their church, and people gaining legal benefits by registering their partnership with the state.

Those who defend the "sanctity of marriage" seem to have only one goal -- to enforce their gender-discrimination beliefs that their church has defined one everyone else, even those who don't follow the same religion.

That's not valid, under the constitution. So, if you're interested in protecting the "sanctity of marriage" I would suggest you lobby your state to remove marriage as a legal status. Make it purely a religious states, and states can grant only civil unions to everyone.

That way, the state can provide legal benefits without discriminating based on gender, and you to uphold your personal religious beliefs without having to deal with that pesky Constitution mandating equality under the law.

Most libs have never had a good marriage. They think women can do it all. NOT! One parent situations are not families and the kids run out of control, are never properly disciplined, taught honor or respect, the dif between bad and good, right and wrong, etc., etc. Some of their kids see what is wrong there and do good for themselves, but they are a small minority, unfortunately.

Don't limit that to liberals...I am a "moderate" republican and if you're referring to same sex marriage, my views are like this; If you want to marry someone of the same sex because you L O V E them? More power to you! Doesn't bother me. I know it wont have any impact on me or my children, so why should I care??

Because they want total government control and having a lack of family structure helps them.

Maybe they do not feel as if gay marriage (which I am assuming you are reffering to) threatens the sanctity of marriage...
