Don't knock all Americans.
Besides, I don't know a land where God's name isn't maligned on a daily basis. Yes, even by Christians. I, too, am guilty!
But people say that because it has become common-place to utter that phrase automatically, not because they are making special efforts to be bad or sacrilegious.

I really have no idea. I mean, he doesn't really belong to them......lol. But, really, I don't know, I think it started out as a sort of "Lord have mercy" thing and has evolved into what it is today. Just a guess though.
