I am going on Tuesday for an ultrasound. I'll be just over 21 weeks and they said they would "try" and see the sex of the baby at this appointment. I would really love to know what it is. I was wondering what everyone else's experiences were when it came to finding out the sex of your baby. Were you able to find out at the ultrasound you had around this time??? I won't have an unnecessary scan later just to determine the sex, so... just trying to see what my chances of figguring out what this little one is!!! :)

Thanks!!!

By this time my son was proud to show off. I swear I have more u/s photos of him with his legs spread than anything!

Usually girls are little bit more shy about this but not always.

I found out the sex of my baby at 13 weeks and 5 days when I had an ultrasound to determine my G.A. so 21 weeks is a good time to see as long as the baby cooperates.

I had to BEG my ultrasound tech to tell me the sex of the baby- I know up here in Canada, the tech is NOT allowed to tell you a guess at the sex of the baby. I thought it was in case they were wrong, but my tech told me it is because a lot of eople abort babies of a sex they dont want, and the government wont let the tech tell you a guess at sex anymore because they govt is concerned about abortions due to sexing of the baby.
That being said, my ultrasound tech did tell me her guess, because I begged her to, so did my fiance and our 5 yr old son... she told us we are 99% having a girl, BUT that there is a chance it might be a boy, because sometimes they do make mistakes. I just had the gut feeling from day 1 the babe is a girl, so I wasn't surprised anyways... just happy!
My ultrasound was at 19 weeks, and I have to go for another one at 30 weeks to check on my placenta previa--
Overall, I am very happy we talked our tech into giving us her guess, but it IS just a guess, no matter how educated it is... she also told us most ultrasound techs wont tell you a guess at sex unless they are really really confident in their guess anyways... also, depends on how the baby is situated- I went in with a full bladder like I was told to, and she checked it all out- couldn't see anything because baby was tucked into a ball. Then she had me go pee, and when I came back onto the bed, she tried again, and lo and behold, the baby had both legs open and looked like she was swimming around, which made it pretty easy for our tech to guess the sex, lol...

Good luck with finding out!!! :)

For most people they can determine the gender of your baby at or around 20 weeks. I have a friend that just found out what she was having and she is only around 15-16 weeks. She was lucky. I am only 10 weeks and 5 days and I am so ready to find out the gender of my baby. Good luck at your appointment. Congrats

I had my first ultrasound to determine my baby's sex at 16 weeks, 2 days. It was very clear that she was a girl and even had her legs opened a while. The tech was 100% sure that she was a girl.

You will find out what sex your baby is as long as she or he cooperates.

I was able to find out with both of my boys. I was only 19 weeks along with my first one. It was quite obvious. It's been my experience that if they tell you they cannot tell from the ultrasound, its always been a girl. 100% of the time of the people I've known personally. Good Luck

ultrasounds are NEVER 100% about the sex. And when they say "try" it's because you never know if the baby will help out by laying streached out with the genititals to see. :) I go in for my gender determining ultrasound april second, luckily, I've had ultrasounds before and have noticed my baby likes laying spread out! Let's hope both our babys lay this way during the big ultrasound!!! :))

I had my first u/s at 17 weeks not expecting to find out the sex, but they did see that it was a BOY! I had another one at 26 weeks and yup he is definetly a boy! You can find out as early as 15-16 weeks but I think I heard that 20 weeks is the best time, they are not too small nor to big!

I've been there 6 times. I found out with 5 out of the 6. Its was so funny, when I was due with our 3rd, the tech, said ' well its either a boy, or a girl who likes to carry accesories already.' LOL
I don't know when I didn't find out, it was a surprise. It was kinda cool. But I too, like to know before he was here. That way, you can plan. But I've also heard of people excepting a boy, and getting a girl, or vise versa.

My son was pretty difficult. I swear he knew what we were doing. Every shot, every angle, he would shift to block the view. After 30 minutes or so, and pushing on mommy's tummy, we finally found the stem on the apple.
