I would hate for that to happen to me. I am always very cautious when I tell anyone names that i am thinking of. For one reason so they don't "steal it" and for the other reason, so they don't tell me it is a bad name and try to convince me to change it. It is you child you name choice.

are you even pregnant yet...??? when i was a younger i thought that i had all of my babies names picked out... then i got married and realized i'd have to let my hubby be involved in the process too... so oh well.
Now don't rush into getting preggers just to use a baby name that is not what i'm saying, but I think that the first person to actually have the baby has dibbs on any name... now it would be a different story if you already named your daughter that and then your sis used it. that happened to me, but not my sister, it was a friend who named her son the same as my son... they are 6 years apart, so we call one big noah and the other little noah. It ticked me off at first, but then i got over it. And remember there are millions of names out there.

This has happend to me. I wanted to name my daughter after my Aunt Marie (RIP). Her name was going to be Marie Ellen, and my entire family knew it. Then my cousin Ayana went into labor 2 days before me and named her daughter Marie Ellen. I was very upset, but i am fine now because i have a GORGEOUS daughter named Destiny Marie. So, dont worry because the name doesnt matter. Either way you will have a beautiful baby. Good Luck! ; )

Don't tell anyone about names you want to use, then. And as someone else mentioned . . . I too had names picked out long ago, years before I ever met my husband. I have shared with him some of my favorite names, and they are still possibilities, but it's more fun discussing names with him, and what our personal impressions of each are.

Boy names are the hardest for me to come up with so I always got excited when I would find the ones I liked...I loved the name Ethan and my aunt decided to use it, after Ethan it was Logan and my cousin got pregnant and used it, then I decided on Austin and she got pregnant AGAIN and used it! My family always comes to me for names anyhow, but I was just really upset when they took all of those names...now they all promised me they'd leave the new boy name to me.

When I was pregnant with my son, I wanted Jackson Reese. He was to be named after a friend and his father, well another " friend" was pregnant with a boy and had him 3 months before I had my son. She named him Jackson Bailey. I was mad at first but I named my son, Caden Reese, which I really liked better, so she really did me a favor.

Name your child what you want to name it, Regardless of what someone else did. If she knew it, then she should expect it. My son's name is Caden and my sister had a baby shortly after me and named hers McKayden. I don't care except when people say that I copied her and my son was born first and she knew what I was naming him!!
