My son is 15 months old and he went through a phase where when he sat down at the table for meals, he'd just play with his food and not eat it. My doctor suggested finding food that wouldn't be too messy and letting him come and go as he pleases as he's playing or running around the house. She said that it was hard for babies to keep an attention span when they are teething and are not interested in solely eating, but if you let him eat as he's doing other things, before you know it, the entire plate will be gone. Obviously, I still make my son sit at the table during meals so he doesn't think he can just skip out on being a part of the family. He's outgrown the not eating phase and now is the first one done at dinner. =)

My daughter is 15 months old and doesn't have much of an interest on eating, either. Occasionaly, though, she can pig out. But here it is....from ages 1 - 2 years old, your kid's growth will slow down quite drastically to what you experienced in the first year. In fact, your kid may only gain 2 - 4 pounds between ages 1 and 2. Your kid's body doesn't require as much nutrients and calories as before. Therefore, he won't want as much food. Now is the time to start letting him try to feed himself. He'll spend more time trying to play with the food than to eat it...good luck.

my son did the exact same thing, they go through growth spurts where they eat a lot, and then their body slows down and they dont' require so much. Just make sure you offer him lots of nutritious meals and snacks, that way when he eats, you know he is getting good stuff. I also went and bought chewable vitamins and cut them in half and gave him a half to chew on, (only do this if he is chewing htings well and eating table food well) that way I knew he was getting his vitamins and minerals. I also tried to limit liquids between meals. Milk can make you feel full as can juice. So if his appetite is not all that large, a little juice or milk can make him feel satisfied. I gave him water in between and little glasses of juice and milk at meal and snack times. Dont' worry, as long as his weight is on track and he is eating healthy, he will be fine

Let him "help" you with his food...tear pieces of bread, break up a banana, things like that. Don't make a big deal out of mealtimes. When he's hungry, he'll eat. If you're really worried, use a toddler formula rather than milk since it has lots of nutrition. I prefer organic foods and have used Baby's Only Organic toddler when I had worries about the kids nutrition. Hope this helps.

He's just going through a phase. Offer him his "real" food first; then after a reasonable amount of time, shrug, give him the drink, and let him go from the table. Don't make it a power struggle or you'll have a picky eater on your hands later.

Try finger foods and make it into a game. Like make a face out of his dinner and tell him to eat the nose etc.. Just have fun with it.

make happy faces with carrots and mashed potatoes
try your hand at brocolie trees
give him things he can hold in his hands
things like crackers and fruit pieces
if he still refuses to eat see a nutritionist to give you some greater advice he could have something wrong with him
most likey he will eat when he is hungry and when he is hungry have food ready...:) good luck ♥

Has he got some teeth coming through? That can surpress their appetites. Check to see if that's what has happened, and remember that liquid is far more important than food at this age :)
