Can you get a bladder infection from having sex for long periods of time?? I heard that somewhere and I would really like to know. My boyfriend and I had sex for over 30 minutes 3 days in a row and I now have a bladder infection. I'm not saying the sex was the cause, but I have heard that it could. Help me out here...please.

Do you have a Uti or a bladder infections, either way you can get bladder/uit's from having sex, you get it from bacteria transfered through sex.

I work for an OB/GYN office. This is a very common problem in women. What happens is the body fluids from you/him gets up inside the urethra and can cause UTI or bladder infection. To help with this, our doctor recommends that after each time you have sex, whether it it 1 minute or an hour is to go and pee. This will flush out anything that is inside and can help prevent an infection.

It's possible...rough vigorous or prolonged sex can result in this. Sex can (will) push bacteria into your urethral opening and since our urethras are shorter than men's, BAM easy bladder infection. You may have to get an antibiotic this time, from now on empty your bladder immediately after sex, this will flush the bad bacteria out, and drink cranberry juice also. It has a property that makes your it harder for bacteria to stick and infect you inside.

When you have sex you need to make sure that both you and your boyfriend are clean. Dont let him touch you with dirty hands, wipe front to back... All sorts of bacteria are just waiting to craw up there and give you and ifection. Sometimes the way you have sex can be a problem because part of him is rubbing on your urethra and that can cause discomfort as well as a UTI. The longer your having sex also means the longer amount of time your being exposed. So you should use condoms and then when your done immediatley cleanse your self.

Yes, that is a possible cause.

You should get in to see a doctor if you haven't already. There are good treatments for a UTI.
