I am having KILLER backpains the past week.
I am 23 weeks pregnant, with a retroverted uterus (my uterus is tilted towards my spine instead of outwards).
What the pai feels like is a pinched nerve in my lower back, only on the left side. Sometimes my whole leg goes numb. It flares up more and more with each passing day. Usually happens when I bend or twist my torso, which is REALLY hard to avoid doing (I have a 5 year old son, a dog, etc). It feels like a pinching, twingey pain that shoots up my back and down my legs. Pain is almost in my left bum cheek, if that makes sense. I have an appointment with a chiropractor in 4 days, thank goodness. My dr prescribed me some painkillers and anti inflammatories until then, but I want something natural and easy to stop the pain... It's almost like I have to shuffle my feet because when I lift my left leg its excruciating pain... do you know exercises that would help me? I do pregnancy yoga most days but havent been able to because of the pain

oh girl, i feel your pain. What I'm hearing, that despite your new figure, you have not taken time for yourself. what i can suggest may feel like it is another chore. promise, you will be rejuvenated. talk to you husband/ ? please let me have 1 hr. make a really as hot as you can stand in. (its so hot there's no way your sit tin in thather!) OK so get in with your fat belly. RElax. now start to stretch. Lean over to reach your toes. but don't touch them, comtinue through lift your arms and streach your spine. lift up! . circle an repeat. reach back and put your ahnds on your hips, shrug your shoulde, up to your ears and back around. rs a 3x or so. reach back out front. go under water and count 10. lay back and curls. L-R up ?down. keep going ? maybe tomorrow. ok. you will feel terrific or at least a little stimulated (at first). keep going, walks too.
PS. try to pull w/ rt knee towards your rt shoulder. lay on your back first, sorry. its just not always your hips.

I am not seeing a question in all of this...
But I worked in a chiropractic office for a long time and it is rare to have sciatica during pregnancy. Only about 1 in 100 pregnancy women suffer from sciatica which is caused by a sublexation of your vertabrae and puts pressure on your sciatic nerve
Most often a condition that is confused with sciatica is the culprit. It is called posterior pelvic pain disorder and it does not cause pressure on your sciatic nerve but has similar pain sensations.
If you chose a good chiropractor he will not falsly diagnose you with sciatica just to make a few more dollars. So if he says it is sciatica... you should bring up the statistics and ask about posterior pelvic pain disorder and see what he says.

UGH! I had this when I was preggers and saw a chiropractor. try Ice, that should help. I'd be worried about meds, personally. Also make sure you get a lot of back and leg support while laying down or sleeping, and walk alot. that helped as well. put a pillow behind your back and between your legs, and under your belly
