Our apartment complex has idiots for maintenance workers. Our downstairs neighbors complained about water leaking, and after ignoring them for 2 weeks, they came to us saying it was all our fault and we just get crazy with our water.

Hmmm. Yeah, no.

So as a last resort, they've put a shower door. It's been working great!

Last night my 18-month old son and husband were playing a game where my son would open up one door and my husband would stick his head. There was no slamming, no craziness. That's it.

Now it's broken. We can tell where something has been bent, we've called it in to be repaired, but I wanted to know how possible it was for the door to break due to my son's playing?

In other words: what would cause a door to do that? Poor installation or my son just opening and closing the door (yes, he was only just opening and closing it). We can't even move one of the doors now!

It was slid back and foth about 10 times.

It's off the track, but something is also bent.

It was not slammed. It was opened, It was closed. It was just opened and closed 10 times. Like I said, my son didn't slam it into the wall. It was gentle and lasted MAYBE 3 minutes.

did you try to see if maybe the door just came off track?

Here's how it can happen. When you slam the doors to hard that causes it to break, it doesn't just break by itself. Unless other in the complex are breaking like crazy then you have no recourse but to pay for damages.

Why didn't both doors break? (cause it wasn't being slammed)

If it had just came off track it wouldn't have broken. I've repaired shower doors for over 20 years.

I doubt that you will find an exact size. Unless you can find the exact manufacter. Unless the complex has a used one, where they saved one half that someone else broke, that might work.

Why didn't the mirror break?

It's safety glass and that means it breaks and the whole thing just falls down.

First off I'd tell you that the bathroom is not a playground.

Yes your son or husband or both cause this.

Just pay the price and stop whinnying.

in other words, don't abuse products and they will last longer.

use as instructed.

you open to get in. open to get out.

no matter WHO is opening it. you arne't supposed to open it back and forth a billion times.

its your problem for not maintaining the shower. its no one's fault but yours
