Typecast is when an actor is always "cast" in the same type of role. Arnold Schwarzenegger would be a good example as his persona is based on his muscular physique and accent - you know what to expect from him in a film. Actors genrally try to fight against being typecast as it is very limiting, although for others it can be very lucrative.

It's actually called "type cast." And it's usually when an actor ends up playing the same kind of role over and over, because that's what audiences (and other people, I suppose) expect. They are labeled as a certain "type."
For example, Jack Black is usually type cast as a zany, goofy, weird guy.
Jim Carey used to be type cast as a a loud, crazy character, and now he plays more serious roles.

Type-casting refers to placing an actor in role similar or identical to ones s/he had played in the past. Many times it's hard to break the mold or audience expectation that someone is always a good guy or always a villain - the more memorable you are, the harder it is to act your way out of the type-casting situation.

It means when you play a certain character either on TV or in the movies you can be made to play that same type character in different shows. For example, Clint Eastwood was type cast as a rough acting character in his early roles.

The guy who plays Harry Potter. He is definetly type cast. I can't imagine him playing any thing but Harry Potter. Most of the people from the American Pie movies are also type cast.

It means that the person fits a certain description, or attitude, for example "the dumb blond” or so, then he or she is going to be casted for the same rol over and over, because they can't be pictured playing anything else. Or maybe someone that has played a character that made such an impression, that no one can see them doing another rol. For example, it happened to Christopher Reeves when he did Superman, and couldn't succeed outside the Superman movies.

"Typecast" is when you have an actor portray a person based on how they look or walk or talk.
For example, a guy with a thick Italian accent and demeanor can be typecast easily as a Mafia member or chef.
