Gagne was a very poor starter and an excellent closer. Considering this, you could ask two questions.
1) Was throwing so hard (since he was only pitching 1 inning, rather than starting as he was used to) detrimental to his mechanics?
2) Was he on steroids?
If the answer is mechanics, then no, he most certainly will not stay healthy. If the answer is steroids, and if he is off the juice today, then yes, he probably will stay healthy. Whether or not he will be EFFECTIVE is another question.

No chance - he replaced into for sure on some thing... the guy got here out of no the position to develop into the finest closer in the league for 2 years and then at the same time as they stepped up the league's drug testing coverage he receives damage 2 years in a row??? sounds fishy to me... without his roids he will likely very last a quarter or 1/2 the year with respectable stats and then have a season ending arm harm

Supposedly, he's healthy and throwing hard again. Its impossible to answer your question beyond that. I'll guess that he stays healthy; the good news is that the Rangers have a guy like Otsuka who is there to spell him when he needs a break from closing duties, if he feels tired or gets a twinge. Thats a great 1-2 punch coming out of the Rangers pen, which one of their strengths.

You are going to see the same old Eric Gange at the mound again this season. He is tough as nails to come back after 15 innings in last two seasons because of major injuries, expect him at the top of his game and he has lost about nothing since the injuries.

Yes he should. He won't be the dominant closer that he once was, but he is still better than Akinori Otsuka. The Rangers will still benefit from the signing of Gagne.

Playing in the AL at the junior circuit's Coors' Field means that it could be irrelevent if he stays fit or not, he may still lose the closers job even if he stays 100% fit.
Will be interesting to see how he makes the conversion from a cavernous NL stadia to an AL banbox.

Gagne now pitches for Texas, not LA. Is the reason that he is so injury prone now somehow connected to steroids?
Just asking

he'll stay healthy but he's not gonna dominate. he's no longer the 99 mph stud he was. playing in arlington isn't gonna help all that much either being as its finished in the top 10 in hr's given up every year its been open.

I think he will stay healthy but he will not be as effective as he had been in the past. His old form made him one of the best closers of all time, he was unhittable.
